Puerto Cabezas

This is our home where we have lived for the past two years. Our city has a population of about 60,000 people, more like a large town, not a city like you might think. We have two banks, and two gas stations, many churches and bars. This city is the largest in the surrounding North Atlantic Coast of approximately 275,000, which has an unemployment rate of about 80%.  Most families in the surrounding villages live by growing crops of rice, beans, and yucca. The infant mortality on the Atlantic Coast is about 50+ per 1,000 deaths, per year, and most of these deaths are under the age of five. Many of these deaths are related to contaminated water with parasites and disease. The Atlantic Coast of Nicaragua is considered the 2nd poorest region in the Western Hemisphere, with over 70% of the population living in poverty or extreme poverty. This is a place that Forward Edge is partnering with Verbo Ministries to be the hands and feet of CHRIST, by sharing love and compassion through works of service and evangelism. Ask GOD how you can get involved in this work.
