Many of us have skimmed over the book of Numbers with all its lists and instructions and names of people. But today I found a very interesting verse that challenged me and I thought I would share it with you. Numbers 9:23 “At the commandment of the Lord they camped, and at the commandment of the Lord they traveled on; they kept the instructions of the Lord according to the commandment of the Lord, .….” As I read this this morning I realized what commitment and sacrifice it took to follow after GOD in the desert. Sometimes they would stay a day, sometimes a week, and sometimes even months. But they always had to be ready to follow HIS leading. It did not matter how comfortable they were, or how long they had been there. As individuals, they had to pack up their tents, their belongings, their families, and follow. They learned that GOD knew what was best for them, and continued to follow his cloud by day and fire by night.
Where are we today, where are you today? Are you open to GOD’s leading and willing to go? Are you listening for HIS voice and have you made yourself available to HIM? My prayer for myself today is, “LORD help me to stay when I want to go, and help me to go, when I want to stay!”
Just to be willing. Willing to change. Willing to give up my own direction for God’s direction. Willing to give time to others, not just money and going to church, but to give of my time in meaningful ways. Not just doing, but having a servant’s heart to do what God asks of me. May I seek Him more and more. Draw me closer, dear Father God, closer to Your heart.
